Just to share my experience
Problem cause: 1. Suddenly drop of harddisk from high place only 1m drop to floor can cause harddisk demage.
More than three times of such incident happen to us for my removable harddisk. If you installed software Hard Disk Sentinel, you can see alert of your harddisk health is bad. What you first to do is immediately backup your data to other harddisk. Do not perform any operation to write data to it or try to fix it with other recovery methods. If you try to reformat your harddisk after backup your data, you will face problem with bad sector and cannot format the harddisk again. Go to your selling agent to replace a new one and do not re-use the harddisk to avoid data loss. Actually, the harddisk cannot be used anymore. I success to replace new one with the selling agent everytime.
2. Disconnect of power during writing to removeable harddisk.
When writing task not complete and power disconnect, try to reconnect your USB cable and power supply. Use checkdsk to check the completeness of data in harddisk. I recommend to use the software "Check Disk" (current version 1.4) after everytime you write data before disconnect your removeable harddisk. After check and correct errors (if any), rewrite the data and replace the existing one because data is incomplete with suddenly power lost.
3. Hardware wearout after using for a long time
Possible not happen to me, my 160G IDE harddisk still alive. Seem can be use before you die unless you drop it. Why don't demage, I want a new one.
At last, highly recommand you to install Hard Disk Sentinel, it can monitor the status and show alert if any problem of your harddisk. Hope this can help everyone to protect your valuable data.
